A Visit from Boston Police!

Today, Officer Nicole and Deputy Nora came to visit! We introduced ourselves to them and asked a few questions for them. Scholars learned about the different ranks of police, and got to see what was on Officer Nicole's belt. There is a homework assignment that is due by next Monday.

Kilograms/Grams & Prayer Chain

This week, we learned about kilograms and grams. Scholars had a bag of rice that weighed 1 kilogram, or 1,000 grams. We decomposed the kilogram into 100 grams, 10 grams, and 1 gram. Each group was decomposed into ten.

In honor of All-Saints Day, scholars created a prayer chain. The chain included Saints or loved ones that have passed away. They did a great job!

Science and Art!

Today we looked at a few art paintings. Scholars applied what they knew about weather to make observations about the weather in a painting. They wrote their observations on post-it notes. I read them and we discussed what we saw. Great job scholars!

It's Raining, It's Pouring

It was raining in 3A! We used water, shaving cream, and food coloring in the precipitation experiment. The shaving cream represented clouds and the food coloring made the clouds heavy enough to make it rain. We were so excited when the food coloring hit the water!

Power Towers

Scholars practiced their addition facts using plastic cups! If they correctly solved the equation, they could stack their cups to build a tower. So much fun!
